Lyngbyvasen er blevet et af de mest ikoniske designs fra Lyngby Porcelæn. I løbet af de sidste 10 år er loppemarkeder, antikmesser og genbrugsbutikker blevet støvsuget for de oprindelige eksemplarer, og de nye produktioner har været yderst populære.
Da Lyngbyvasen oprindeligt blev designet var den en stor kontrast til de klassiske og meget traditionstro porcelænsteknikker. De aflange, rillede former og den elegante enkelhed var noget helt nyt. Indtil 1920’erne var der tradition for masser af porcelænsmaling, ornamentering, detaljer og glaseringsteknikker.
Fokus var mere på udsmykningen af porcelænet fremfor selve porcelænsformen. Lyngbyvasen udfordrede traditionerne, stærkt påvirket af den funktionalistiske Bauhaus-bevægelse i Tyskland, hvor man fokuserede på form og funktionalitet, og ikke udsmykning. Formen i sig selv er nok. Der er ikke behov for ekstra pynt eller dekoration. Lyngby Porcelæn relancerede Lyngbyvasen i 2012, og siden da har vasefamilien udviklet sig på både farver og materialer.
