Helt tilbage i 1957 blev verdens første termostel af porcelæn produceret. Skaberne bag dette nye produkt var Lyngby Porcelæn. Det unikke ved disse produkter er, at de på samme vis som en termoflaske har dobbeltvægge. Nytænkningen medførte, at porcelæn-produkterne nu kan holde kaffen varm i længere tid og forhindre, at man brænder fingrene på porcelænet. I 1960 vandt designet særlig stor anerkendelse, og blev i den forbindelse udstillet på Louvre i Paris samt på Metropolitan Museum of Art i New York, hvor man stadig den dag i dag kan se samlingen.
